Bitterness

Bitterness often lies behind our inability to forgive and be forgiven. It is a vandal who reject the existence of peace and prosperity of us and destroy our relationship with God and our neighbor. The Bible warns us about the roots of bitterness, “Take care lest one get away from the grace of God, so do not grow roots of bitterness led to riots and which contaminate many” (Hebrews 12:15).

Sometimes the root of bitterness that developed over the weeks, months and even years, maybe we can hide it by camouflaging a variety of other attitudes, which sometimes can not be known by others but we can not hide our bitterness toward God or even from the bitterness of our own bodies so that we can often be reflected in our attitude is full of anger, full of lust, slander, and revenge.

Bitterness never be built, the bitterness is always destructive, no matter whatever made people to us or how poorly, and often they do to us, bitterness never be acceptable in the sight of God. Nothing good has ever come from bitterness.
We must be careful not to let bitterness take root in our lives, like the roots that have smooth edges to reach the water in order to grow, so too the root of bitterness has smooth branches to reach the lands of our hearts to make us slaves who would undermine our emotional life.

Bitterness can cause physical illness, the longer the medical experts began to see the kind of link between how our bodies work and how we think. Bitterness, anger and other negative emotions have been associated with glandular tissue problems, high blood pressure, heart problems, peptic ulcers and a number of other physical illnesses.

The bitterness may also cause distress to someone and defame others, we keep the bitterness that would sully our relationship with our spouse or our neighbor, this is why there is so much separation, divorce and a messy household even when we want to love others, we can not do it, the parents wonder why they can not love their children, otherwise the children wonder why they can not love their parents. Are not aware they have started stacking it in the root of bitterness any anger, because there is distrust one another, and each began to build emotional walls is hard to penetrate.

Destruction because the bitterness is clearly illustrated in the life of King Saul, who began his reign as a ruler who respected and liked, but ended his life in defeat, grief and suicide. The destruction of the spirit of bitterness towards David and to God is a means of supporting the death. (1 Samuel 18:1-7). When the root of bitterness has grown old, not always be immediate removal. A husband and wife who decide to reconcile after a separation can be with each other honestly confess and repent of their sins, but a full recovery comes gradually.

Healing the spirit sometimes takes longer, we may have to live with the damaged emotions for years, perhaps since childhood. But as children of God, we have the ability to forgive and remove the bitterness of our life even though it causes us to experience a lot of loss or shame, because if we do not forgive then we will not be able to love. Luke 6:36-37 says: “Be ye merciful, even as your Father is generous. Do not be judgmental, so ye also will not be judged. And do not punish, then ye also will not be punished; forgive and ye shall be forgiven.

“We only have two choices, we can let bitterness destroy us or we can invite God to develop us into the person who according to His will. “But I’m alive, but no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. “(Galatians 2:20).
